Toward the end of 1993, God gave one of his servants a vision, that vision was to start a church that would "Build and Rebuild the Lives of the Lord's People." That servant, as we know him today, is Pastor Abraham Shanklin, Jr.
After much prayer, searching the scripture, and family support, the Lord revealed to him a plan of action through the scripture of Nehemiah 4:6- "So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together into the half thereof For the people had a mind to work." Not only did God give the plan, He gave the people who had a mind to work.
The first meeting was on January 10, 1994, in the Shanklin's home. The meeting was followed by five (5) consecutive weekly meetings. During that six week period, the following families responded obediently: Cynthia Howard, Eunice Murray, Linda Wilcox, Sylvia Perry, Gwen Miller, Jameelali, Charlotte Simmons, Ronald, Shirley and Diedre Wilborne,Moses and Patricia Jackson,Calvin and Carolyn Mason, Joseph and Linda Powell, Donald and Erica Rucker.
During the first meeting, Pastor Shanklin presented to the group a well -prepared, organized, and comprehensive five (5) year plan necessary to accomplish the vision the Lord had laid upon his heart. He invited discussion and answered questions during the presentation.
As the first meeting ended, those present were asked to prayerfully read the Book of Nehemiah and were assigned Prayer Partners. In the weeks to follow, a building was rented with the cost divided among the families. In addition, to the above cost, other donations were received to purchase chairs, hymnals and a communion set. The pulpit and other furniture were donated.
Numerous volunteers showed up on Saturday, February 26, 1994 to prepare the building for our first worship experience on Sunday, February 27, 1994. Approximately one hundred thirty (130) people were in attendance. Since that time, God has continued to bless. ///
